“In the end, I’m very satisfied, but the start of the match was a bit catastrophic. We conceded four goals in the opening minutes, three from offside positions. We weren’t prepared for the atmosphere created and the rhythm of the opponent against Egnatia. Our continuation was better, we controlled the match, turned the result around, and it seemed the game was decided. Then we conceded an unfortunate goal and had to fight again,” Erwin van de Looi said about the recent international test.

The Green-Whites celebrated in Albania after a comeback, and soon there will be a match against FC Noah from Armenia: “The team showed real character. It’s nice to see that the substitutions also made a difference, which means we don’t rely only on the starting eleven, but on all players in the squad. The way the team responded after a poor start was very good. The same goes for how the boys reacted to the late equalizer. I really liked that reaction.”

Will it be more difficult to shift focus to the domestic championship after 120 European minutes? “We have no choice. That’s football. When you play European matches, you know these things happen. But I think the body is capable of more than we think. If you’re mentally strong, you can exceed your limits. When you win, you’re less tired. So we need to focus on the positive details. We need to recover well. We’ll see who will be ready for Sunday’s match.”
