Following the away win over Primorje, the Green-Whites’ head coach Fede Bessone emphasized the importance of taking chances and maintaining the right mindset throughout the match, which was ultimately decided by Jan Gorenc and Jasmin Kurtić (with the help of a home player). The latter was voted Player of the Match by the fans.

“I’m happy with the win; we had the better of the play, but Primorje could have also turned the game in their favor. I’m frustrated with the start of the second half, when we gave the opponent too much space and could have been punished for it. Later, we regained our composure and scored from two set pieces—both from corners—which is obviously welcome, but how many more chances do we need to put the game to bed earlier? Two clear-cut chances in the first half, a missed penalty, and numerous counter-attacks without a proper finish. We need to fix that,” Bessone said initially.

He also highlighted the quality of the opponent: “We knew it would be difficult, as Primorje is a significantly better team than their position in the standings suggests. It’s never easy for anyone on this pitch. For me as a coach, it’s always most important that the players don’t run too much off the ball. This pays off later when you’re fresher and can finish the match more easily.”

Finally, Bessone looked ahead: “We’re continuing our good run of form and we have to enjoy that. We’ve restored the right mindset to the boys; despite lapses in play, we know how to dig in, and we’re capable of scoring at any moment. Now we’re turning our focus to the cup, as Wednesday’s match against NK Brinje is our biggest challenge right now.”
