Ljubljana, 15. May 2023 – Olimpija’s coach Albert Riera made a significant contribution to the club’s double success. As a professional, we expect him to take responsibility for the results of every game, to ensure that the team wins and not to comment publicly on his contractual status instead of the results.

On 21 April 2023, Albert Riera and his assistant informed Olimpija’s management that their contract expires on 31 May 2023 and that they are no longer willing to work with the club under the same conditions. An extension would therefore require a renegotiation of the contract.

The club’s management has taken note of this. The President has made it clear that he will personally communicate the decision and the results of the planning for the 2023/2024 season after the championship celebrations. That’s why on Monday, 22 May 2023, we will have a press conference to wrap up this year’s great season. The official invitation will follow in the next few days.

Until then, NK Olimpija along with our players and other participants are looking forward to the coming weekend, winning the last match against Celje, lifting the national championship trophy, and finally celebrating at the stadium and Congress Square.
