First team
Friday, 23. 06. 2023Summer preparations are in full swing
On Sunday, 2. On 18 July, at 18.00 NK Olimpija and HNK Hajduk Split will play in Stožice. As befits a friendly match of this kind, it will be a charity match. Proceeds from the tickets sold will go to the project “Let’s Save Little Karolina’s Life”, organised by the Viljem Julijan Association.
On the first Sunday in July, Stožice will once again host a football treat. Dinamo Zagreb’s eternal rival will come to Ljubljana in the middle of their preparations for next season and play one of the most important friendly matches of the summer. Both leagues will start in the second half of July, so the teams will be more or less settled by then. NK Olimpija will certainly show a new character with the new coach Joao Henriques, and the players will have some training in Austria beforehand. The Dragons travelled to their northern neighbours in the morning and will stay in Steinbrunn until the end of the week, which will include two preparatory matches. First will be TWL Elektra and then Slovan Bratislava. Looking forward to Hajduk and the subsequent tests in Europe, these are certainly two real challenges.
“Although it is a friendly match, we will play Hajduk with professionalism and commitment. We don’t have many opportunities to play against such a big and quality club. The experience will be very good for us, because we know where Croatian football belongs. It will also show the character of our team for the upcoming matches in Europe. We know what is ahead of us,” said Henriques, the new Dragons’ strategist. Mauro Moderno and Jose Serrao will join him in the coaching team for the new season, along with the experienced fitness coach Nikola Vidović and the new therapists. The boys will be looked after by Žiga Benko and Riva Milić.
Olimpija, which has decided to donate part of the proceeds from the tickets sold to the development of a gene therapy for Karolina, is joined in the campaign by mojekarte.si! Part of the cost of processing the tickets for the match will therefore go to the project. As the match will be extremely attractive for spectators, a large attendance is expected and more money will be raised as a result. Pre-match entertainment will be provided in the Fan Zone two hours before kick-off.
