First team
Monday, 26. 06. 2023The Dragons have a new defenceman!
Olimpija’s right wing-back Jorge Silva joins the team for training in Austria! The 27-year-old Portuguese, most recently a member of Pacos Ferreira, has pledged his allegiance to the winners of the double crown until 2025!
On his arrival in Slovenia, the new Dragon said.Coming to Ljubljana means a lot to me! I am happy to join the double champions and to wear the green and white jersey for two seasons. I already know the head coach, so I know what kind of football he wants to play. That suits me. I also know some of the players from before, because we played together in Portugal. Sualehe and Rui Pedro told me a lot of good things about the club and the city. Even though the team has already started its preparations, I don’t think I’m missing anything. I’m looking forward to my first training session and getting to know the guys. I know they were quite successful last season and I think we can do it again this year with good work. I’ve already played and gained experience in the Conference League Qualifiers. So I know the level of competition. In two weeks, we have our first game in Latvia, which will be very important. I will do my best to help the team and at the end of the day, we will look forward together.“
Silva will therefore bring to Olimpija’s defence the experience he has gained over the last four seasons among the Portuguese elite. He has worn the Pacos Ferreira jersey in 55 matches in all competitions, including the 2021/22 Conference Qualifiers against Tottenham. The former Portugal youth international was also a member of Sporting’s academy in the past, and played for Leixoes in the second division for three seasons before moving to Ferreira.
