First team
Monday, 14. 08. 2023To Turkey for a turnaround
The Dragons left for Istanbul in the morning for the return match of the 3. Champions League qualifying round. The Dragons will be chasing a three-goal deficit at Rams Park, which seats just over 52,000 people. Joao Henriques’ players have already met the Stadium, tomorrow at 20.00 they will play against Galatasaray.
Agustin Doffo: “Unfortunately, I couldn’t play in the first match because of a penalty. But I watched the game and I know what to expect tomorrow. I’m here to help the team and our goal is, as always, to win. I will do my best to help the team as much as I can. Our big wish is to qualify for the next round. We have come to a stadium that is four times bigger than our home stadium. But that’s okay. When the referee blows the whistle to start the game, we will be standing eleven against eleven. And nothing else matters at that moment. I can’t wait for the game to start and for us to put on another good European performance.”
Joao Henriques: “Our thoughts are fully on the Galatasaray showdown. We will go into the game as usual. I expect a good meeting, full of opportunities. I know that the Turks are the favourites, that they are better than us, because they are used to the atmosphere and to these kind of games. We are looking forward to a really good atmosphere and a great stadium. We want to take advantage of this. Both teams want to win, of course. It will certainly be a Champions League level match. We must believe until the end. We didn’t come here to lose, we will play to our full potential.”
