Olimpija reinforced by a Portuguese

Diogo Costa Pinto joins the Dragons in anticipation of new challenges! The 24-year-old midfielder, who has played for Casa Pia in the Portuguese top league, has signed a contract with the club until 2026.

Former Benfica player on arrival in Ljubljana: “I believe I will quickly settle in with my new teammates and the professional management! Olimpija is my new club, so I will do my best to help the team as much as I can. After the historical success, the people at the club want to continue working hard and impressing in different competitions. The league, the cup and now Europe. I will add some technical skills to the team, while I am at my best in the number 10 position. I hope we can be very successful together, but personally I can’t wait for the first home game and to meet the fans.”

The new Green-White midfielder completed his football training at Benfica before continuing his development in Italy. He was a member of Ascoli and Potenza for one season each, and after returning to his homeland, he played for Vilafranquense and Estrela, where he scored 13 goals in 29 games. A transfer to Casa Pio followed, and Diogo Costa Pinto made 18 appearances among the Portuguese elite in a year. In the current season, he has scored one goal in three games.
