The new defender is Marko Mijailović

Olimpija’s back line has been strengthened by 26-year-old Serbian footballer Marko Mijailovic! The 188 cm tall central defender has played more than 130 games in the domestic championship and made his debut for the Serbian national team in January.

I decided to come to Slovenia because of the tradition of the club. The fight for the championship title is always on, and now also the group stage of European competitions. This is a big challenge for me. I am sure it is for the club as well. I personally heard about the transfer for the first time on Monday. We then contacted the sporting director Goran Boromisa and the general manager Igor Barišić and immediately agreed. Literally within ten minutes. Expectations are certainly high when I arrive in Ljubljana, but I hope to live up to them. At the end of the season, I want to look forward to another double crown and a big breakthrough in Europe with my teammates and fans.”

Mijailović started his playing experience with FK Bezanija, and in the following seasons played for Rad and Macva. He was a member of FK Voždovac in the last two competitions and appeared in 64 league matches for them. He has worn the national jersey in practically all national teams, and made his debut as a member in a friendly against the USA. He played all 90 minutes of the 2-1 win in Los Angeles.
