Friday, 20. 10. 2023Zeljković will make his Dragons debut away from home
On Saturday, 21st of October at 20:15, the Dragons will meet the seventh-placed Domžale at Kamniška Bistrica. Zoran Zeljković, who took over the Olimpija on Wednesday, will be chasing a three-point set for the first time in green and white colours.
The Dragons defeated the Yellow Family 2-1 in their first match this season. In Stožice in August, Rui Pedro scored from the spot and Marcel Ratnik surprised with a beautiful strike from a long distance. Compared to the last duel Matevž Vidovšek will definitely not be in the squad, while David Sualehe, Agustin Doffo and Marko Mijailović were also recovering from minor injuries during the last national team break. Timi Max Elšnik initially trained alone after his return to the club from a national team.
Head coach Zoran Zeljković: “You know what it’s like to coach Olimpija. Every game is important and every game has to be won. We have a tough away match in Domžale. We have some problems, but now I have to think only about this match. I believe Olimpija can play better. We will do everything to make it so. We have the biggest squad in Slovenia, which means that the guys who are fit will play tomorrow. I hope that the captain will be there as well. The main thing we need to fix is the defence, because we want to concede a lot less goals. I have noticed that the energy in the team is a little bit better and that is the basis for the right results.”
Slavko Vinčić will be the main referee, assisted by Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič. Alen Borošak will act as the fourth official, while Rade Obrenović and Roberto Ponis will monitor the match in the VAR room. The match between Domžale, who beat Rogaška 3:0 before the national team break, and Olimpija will be shown live on Sportklub 1.
