  • Pedro Lucas: “Maybe we deserved more”

After an exciting league match at Stožice against Koper, Olimpija came back from behind to earn a deserved point in a 3–3 draw. The visitors took the lead late in the first half, but right after the break Ahmet Muhamedbegović levelled the score following a well-worked corner routine. Koper then quickly moved two goals ahead, after which Federico Bessone’s substitutions paid off. Agustin Doffo provided the assist for Dino Kojić’s goal to pull one back, and Kelvin Ofori won a penalty that Pedro Lucas converted in the dying moments.

After the match, the Brazilian spoke to the TV cameras about the fighting performance, the decisive impact from the bench and the successfully taken penalty late on: “We knew it would be a tough match and we showed a lot of fight, so maybe we could have deserved more. We started well and then dropped a bit after conceding, which is normal. We kept fighting, which led to the equaliser, and we also had a few chances to win, which we could have deserved based on the whole match.”

“As substitutes coming onto the pitch, our job is to raise the level of the game. All the players in the team work hard, and today it showed out on the pitch as well. That’s how we saved a point, and we were very close to completing a full comeback.”

“During my run-up for the penalty, I changed my mind about which way I would shoot. I’d practised finishing to the right, but at the last moment I noticed the goalkeeper moving that way. So I changed my mind at the last second and shot to the left.”
