Stožice Stadium
For 60 years, Olimpija called the Central Stadium in Bežigrad its home. The oldest football stadium in Slovenia hosted Olimpija’s matches in both the Yugoslav League and the Slovenian national championship. European giants such as AC Milan, Liverpool, and Benfica played at Bežigrad. Designed by the legendary architect Jože Plečnik, the stadium was closed in 2008. Afterward, Olimpija played for a while at ŽAK Stadium in Spodnja Šiška before moving to Stožice in the summer of 2010.
The most modern and largest stadium in Slovenia is located in the Bežigrad district in the northern part of Ljubljana. With a capacity of 16,038 for football matches, the stadium was inaugurated in August 2010 with a match between the national teams of Slovenia and Australia. A few days later, Olimpija played its first home match at Stožice, facing Koper in front of 7,000 spectators.
