Olimpija’s new head coach is 49-year-old North Macedonian expert Jugoslav Trenčovski, who has signed a one-year contract with the Dragons, with an option to extend.

Trenčovski most recently enjoyed a successful spell in charge of Radomlje, where he made a strong impression last season. Before that, he gained extensive experience both in North Macedonia and in Kuwait. In his coaching career, he has led Al-Arabi, Brero, Belasica, Horizont and Kozuf Miravci, building a reputation as a coach who successfully develops and promotes young footballers. In addition to his club work, he also served as sporting director at the Pandev Academy and was head coach of North Macedonia’s U19 national team.

“This is a big challenge for me—perhaps even the biggest of my coaching career so far. Working at the biggest club in Slovenia is a great honour. When Olimpija calls, you’d walk from Macedonia just to get here. I know the potential this team has and how well it is structured. Olimpija must always fight for the very top of Slovenian football, so I’m really looking forward to the work ahead. I don’t have a magic wand to perform miracles overnight, but I want us to play dominant, fast football and score as many goals as possible,” said the new boss of the Green-Whites upon his arrival.

It is well known that Trenčovski places a lot of trust in young players, something he intends to continue in Ljubljana: “I want players not to be afraid of making mistakes. I expect confidence, courage and decisive actions from them. I’m already really looking forward to working in a new environment,” he added.

Jugoslav will lead his first training session with the team this evening.
