The plane carrying Olimpija’s footballers landed safely at Brnik airport yesterday, marking the end of the 10-day Spanish leg of preparations for the spring part of the 2025/26 season. Upon their return, head coach Federico Bessone shared his thoughts on this period for the club’s official website.
Bessone described the preparations in positive terms: “I am satisfied because we set ourselves a lot of work, for which we had enough time. The players responded well to our way of working and were extremely professional during these ten days. I believe we will be fully ready to return to the competitive rhythm by Saturday.”
The focused process was not halted even by the bad weather that swept across this part of Europe: “In a few days, the weather really made our daily activities difficult, but we are nevertheless satisfied with the conditions and the progress we have made. We improved certain segments identified by the coaching staff. We also used the preparations in Spain for additional team bonding.”
The Dragons faced some complications with the cancellation of one of the scheduled friendly matches due to issues with the opposing team. Nevertheless, the players managed to get some competitive minutes: “In addition to the friendly against Badalona, we also played an internal friendly match within the team. What I saw in that match was very satisfying. The data recorded by our GPS system is very good, which means the players are in excellent physical condition.”
Regarding the upcoming league test, he added: “Overall, I saw ten days of progress, and that gives me confidence that we will be ready for Saturday’s clash with Mura. A tough match lies ahead, the opponent will be motivated, but we must focus on ourselves and all the progress we have achieved during this period.”
