Van de Looi anticipates the national championship
Tomorrow afternoon, the Dragons return to league action with an away match at Športni park Domžale, where they will face Radomlje. This is the first game after the international break, which Olimpija entered following a big victory in the eternal derby against Maribor.
Before the match, we spoke with head coach Erwin van de Looi, who explained how the team used the international break: “We finally had some more time for training. Since I’ve been here, the match rhythm has been really relentless, so we were able to use the time during the international break for preparation and team coordination. Of course, we also had to take some days off for the team to rest. We already have many training sessions and matches in our legs, as the boys have been active since June, so such breaks are absolutely necessary.”
On the players returning from international duty: “The boys are returning from national team gatherings in good condition. Marian Ahouangbo had a long journey, but he recorded two important victories with Benin. Dino Kojić and Mateo Aćimović lost their match in Norway, but they are both healthy and ready for tomorrow’s game.”
And on the next challenge in the Prva liga Telemach: “Radomlje is an opponent with two faces this season. Sometimes they’re excellent, but in the last two matches they didn’t look so good, but we can’t underestimate them. We need to focus on ourselves and be at the level of the Maribor match, and of course, show the same attitude.”
The match between Radomlje and Olimpija starts tomorrow at 17:30 with a live broadcast on Sportklub 1. Next weekend, another home game against Bravo follows. On Saturday, September 20, there will be a variety of activities in front of Stožice as part of the family day.
