Today, defensive midfielder Mariano Ahouangbo also joined the Dragons. The 22-year-old made his mark on the football map when he moved from his native Benin to the Tunisian first league, where he represented AS Soliman. In two seasons, he made 51 appearances and earned a call-up to the Benin national team. He signed a long-term contract with Olimpija until January 2029. He will wear number 80 on his jersey.

Upon signing the contract, he said: “I’m looking forward to the opportunity in European football with an established club like Olimpija, which regularly competes in UEFA competitions. I believe that with my quality, I will be an added value in the midfield. I’m excited to meet my new teammates and the Ljubljana audience.”
