Win and a clean sheet

First game, first win. Zoran Zeljković gets his first three points after just four days on the bench! The Dragons celebrated in Domžale without conceding a goal and thus stayed in the top three positions on the league table. Rui Pedro scored his eight goal in the current season. Lukas Hempt scored the own goal.

After the debut on Olimpija’s bench, Zeljković said: “It’s very difficult to prepare for a game with a new team in three days, so I’m very happy. We scored twice, got the three points and had a clean sheet also! I always tell the boys that when you play like this, chances are bound to come, but it’s always difficult to score two or three goals. From this point of view, the defensive segment of the game is very important and we managed to do it right in our first game together.”

The heavy downpour added its own touches to the 13th round of Prva liga Telemach: “The water affected the game a bit, but the well prepared pitch allowed us to play at the right pace. It was possible to play. I wouldn’t look for excuses, because I think the team still has a lot of reserves. Especially in the defensive part. I’m not completely satisfied there yet, but that’s understandable. The boys gave their best and that’s definitely the basis,” says the new coach of the Green-Whites, who now have 23 points.

The Dragons will face Klaksvik on Thursday. The European tour to the Faroe Islands will also be Zeljković’s first challenge on the international scene: “Olimpija can beat anyone, but unfortunately we have already seen that the opposite can also happen quickly if you are careless. On Thursday we play against a quality opponent, the match will take place on an artificial surface, which means that we will have to adapt quickly. I believe we are capable of achieving a positive result, so let’s go for the win.”
