A tense match in Celje ended with a minimal victory for Olimpija! Rui Pedro scored his ninth goal of the season, converting from the spot in 36th minute. The penalty was won by Nemanja Motika. The Dragons are now just five points behind first place.
Head coach Zoran Zeljković gave his assessment of the match after the game: “We got three very important points. I am pleased with the players’ response. We had a meeting with the fans before the game and they asked for more energy. They were right. The truth is usually somewhere in between. We know we can do better. That is a fact. On the other hand, you have to be aware of the way you won. If we want to win consistently in the future, we will have to improve in many segments of the game.”
The Dragons hold their net empty for the third time in a row. Denis Pintol locked his door in consecutive games against Domžale, Aluminij and Celje: “This is the basics. If the foundations are good, then it’s easier to build. I always say that defence brings trophies and attack brings victories. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are on the right track.”
Zeljković was very pleased with the loud support from the stands in Celje: “It’s great to win these tough away games, especially for confidence. Every fan means a lot to us. A lot of people came to Celje to support us and that really means a lot to everyone at the club. I sincerely hope that our fans will come to support us on Thursday against Klaksvik,” head coach Zeljković told.
