Olimpija played an away match in the 6th round of the Prva liga Telemach at the City Stadium in Ajdovščina. Despite numerous opportunities and two disallowed goals, the first half ended with a minimal lead for the Dragons. Diogo Pinto scored a penalty goal in stoppage time. The home team performed better on the field in the second half and scored from one of their rare chances through Roger Murillo in the 49th minute. Olimpija’s pressure did not pay off, and we return to Ljubljana with a point.
After the match, the Dragons’ coach Erwin van de Looi said to the TV cameras: “We created the most opportunities for the opponent by losing the ball in dangerous areas of the field. We didn’t allow this in the first half, but in the second, it happened too often. Primorje has players who are strong in transition and play very direct football. That’s how they managed to equalize.”
“We gave our all to regain the lead and created many opportunities again. But we were too hasty and made too many mistakes in building our attacks. Overall, I can say that we lost 2 points because we showed what we’re capable of in the first half, but the match lasts 90 minutes. In the future, we need to maintain such performance throughout the entire game.”
The Prva liga Telemach continues on Sunday at 20:15, when the first eternal derby of the year between Olimpija and Maribor is scheduled. You can secure your tickets in advance at shop.nkolimpija.si or in our official club store.
