Klaksvik and Mura. These are Olimpija’s home opponents in the new competition week, the last before the crucial national team break in the 2023 calendar year.
After their victory over Celje, the Dragons are confidently looking forward to Thursday’s European meeting with Klaksvik. The UEFA Europa Conference League game will start on Thursday at 9 pm: “I heard a lot of comments that the defeat against Klaksvik was a disaster. Everyone in the team was very disappointed with the result in the Faroe Islands, but there were also much better teams losing points. It is a specific environment. We could have won that game. If we had scored, it could have been a completely different game. The fact is that the opponent is of good quality, well organised, but beatable. I believe that we are capable of outwitting them in Stožice,” Zoran Zeljković immediately turned his attention to the European group stage match after the away match at Stadion Z’dežele.
The Dragons’ strategist continued: “In every game we want to be more dangerous for the opponent’s goal. We still have a lot of work to do in this area of the game. That’s no secret. Starting with the goalkeeper, that’s where the attack starts. Denis Pintol has no first league experience and hasn’t played for a long time, but he is still doing well. I know what kind of football Olimpija has to play, but we need time. I’m not a magician and it won’t happen overnight.”
“We have a lot of new players who have not played a prominent role in their clubs so far. All of this has to fit together, which is not easy, and on top of that you have to keep winning. I don’t want to play football like we did in the last game, but it’s all a process. Nevertheless, I believe that we will win with a more attacking game and that the spectators will be satisfied,” said Zeljković, looking forward to the international and national challenge.
