The first week of summer preparations for the new season is behind Olimpija’s footballers, and the coaching staff, led by new head coach, is satisfied with the work completed at home in Stožice. Ahead of the opening friendly match against KF Vllaznia, which awaits the Dragons on Tuesday, 23 June, at 6 PM at Kodeljevo and will be closed to the public, strategist Mišo Brečko shared his thoughts.
“As far as the lads’ will and attitude are concerned, they deserve a perfect ten. Everyone is extremely motivated. In this first week, we’ve already got to know each other quite well and I believe the players are already showing signs of fatigue, as they’ve done a lot of work. These are preparations and if we want to be successful, a lot of effort is required.”
“All the internationals are now with us, which is extremely important both for the atmosphere in the dressing room and for the quality on the pitch. We’re delighted to be complete again, as the team is working better from day to day.”
“In the first friendly match, the lads will have to play simply. The result won’t be in the foreground this time, as we’re still in the phase of getting to know each other. In defence and attack, we’ve already started implementing basic tactical ideas, so we’ll also pay attention to how the players transfer them to the pitch. Nevertheless, physical preparation and getting to know the characteristics of individuals remain our main priorities.”
“I must say that the working conditions are excellent. The training pitch is in phenomenal condition and in such an environment it’s a real pleasure to train. We have everything we need for quality work, so we can be very satisfied with the course of preparations at home so far,” said Brečko.
