Ahead of the new season’s opening match, the Dragons’ head coach Mišo Brečko also spoke to the media. He discussed expectations before the clash with Bravo, the integration of young footballers, and personnel changes, highlighting the return of experienced Argentinian Doffa.

“At Olimpija, there’s always pressure for results, but it’s hard for anyone to put more pressure on me than I put on myself. I am aware of the responsibility. Our first opponent, Bravo, is somewhat of an unknown due to squad changes, but on the other hand, we know their style of play well. They are not difficult to analyze, as they are a team that gives you nothing for free. Regardless of the opponent, we must be a serious and playful team. On the pitch, we must show that we know what it means to wear the Olimpija jersey.”

“The squad has changed significantly, but the team today looks much more serious than at the start of preparations. I am also pleased that we have brought in many young players whom I know well from before. But their path must be taken step by step. The transition from youth to senior football is not easy, especially at Olimpija. Bravo was the youth champion for two seasons in a row, yet practically no player established themselves in their first team. Young players need time, sometimes even a step back to the second league, which is the beginning of their journey, not its end.”

“When I arrived at Olimpija, they asked me which of the players who left the club I would most like to keep, and I chose him – Agustin Doffo. At the time, I didn’t even know there was a possibility of his return. I like his mentality, courage, and mindset. This is certainly a good signal from the club. As for additional reinforcements, there will probably be some more changes. We are not planning major interventions in the squad, but we are prepared for anything else that might happen.”
