Olimpija finished its first season in the highest Slovenian football competition in 4th place and qualified for the Europa League, which the club also achieved in the 2010/2011 season. By the summer of 2015, the green-and-whites had not yet managed to climb to the top of the league table. However, the 2015/16 season marked a new chapter of success when Milan Mandarić took over as president of ŠD NK Olimpija Ljubljana. This moment signaled the beginning of a story of triumph and achievement.

On May 21, 2016, just days after a glorious victory in rainy Velenje, where the Dragons secured the championship title with a penalty goal, Darijan Matić proudly lifted the long-awaited trophy for the best football club in the country. Generations of fans finally witnessed the moment when their beloved team brought the trophy back to where it belongs.
