  • Coach’s reaction after the eternal derby

The eternal derby did not end as the Dragons wished, as they played practically the entire second half of the match in the 24th round of the Telemach First League with a player less. Maribor broke through Olimpija’s defense in the 77th minute when Soudani scored.

Coach Victor Sanchez saw the match in Ljudski Vrt this way: “The match had two faces: before the suspension and after it. Before the match and during halftime, we warned the players not to get foolish yellow cards. Playing with one player less is something completely different. After the suspension, we tried to remain compact in defense and block counterattacks. When Maribor lost a player, we became dangerous in the final minutes and created some promising situations, but in the end we have to admit defeat.”

“As I always say: we have to learn from these kinds of mistakes, which is normal for such a young team. They have to learn to stay focused because small details can change everything. Now it’s time to regenerate after the match and prepare for the clash with Mura. We are still at the top of the table.”

The next test for the green and white team awaits on Wednesday at 17:30, when NŠ Mura hosts Ljubljana in the 25th round of the Telemach First League.
