Recruitment before the start of preparations: New member of the Dragons has become a Macedonian national team player
Dimitar Mitrovski has joined NK Olimpija Ljubljana from Croatian first division club Varaždin. The Macedonian international has signed a three-year contract with the Dragons in a record transfer in the era of president Adam Delius.
Mitrovski has had an outstanding season in the 1. HNL, scoring 8 goals in 28 league games in the 2024/25 season and playing a key role in Varaždin’s historic qualification for the Conference League. In two and a half seasons, he made 71 appearances for Varaždin, scoring 13 goals.
Before making his mark in the club competition, Mitrovski gained experience in renowned football environments across Europe. He began his football career in his native Skopje, near Rabotničko. Already as a teenager, he showed a lot of knowledge, which opened the door for him to travel abroad at the age of just 16.
In 2015, he moved to Germany. There, he represented the youth teams of Hansa Rostock and 1. FC Magdeburg. A year later, he moved to one of Europe’s largest youth development clubs, Sporting. In Lisbon, he played for the youth team from 2017 onwards, and then for the reserve team of Sporting B.
The technically accomplished attacking midfielder, who is also part of the North Macedonia national team, for which he has won 8 caps to date, developed at AP Brera Strumica before leaving for Croatia. Olimpija has become his seventh club in his career today, and he will represent the current champions with the number 8 shirt.
