  • Dragons Chase a Turnaround in Armenia

The Olimpija team landed in the Armenian capital yesterday evening local time and is preparing today for the return match of the Conference League qualification play-off against FC Noah, who will be defending their 4-1 advantage from the first leg in Ljubljana. This morning, the team conducted an activation session, and in the evening, there will be a press conference and official training at the stadium in Abovyan.

Captain Agustin Doffo revealed at the press conference how Olimpija will respond after the defeat in the first match: “We analyzed the previous game and identified what we did poorly. We are clear on where we need to improve, so I’m confident about tomorrow’s match. We know what’s at stake and we want to fight for a place in the Conference League.”

“We have a clear plan for tomorrow and we must execute it properly. We need to give everything we have to show our best version. That’s how we will win tomorrow.”

The stadium in Abovyan is located in an extremely windy area, which was immediately noticed by the Dragons’ strategist Erwin van de Looi: “The weather conditions surprised us a bit. The wind is really strong, the pitch is slightly smaller, and we need to adapt to that. These are unusual circumstances, but they might even work to our advantage.”

“Since we’re behind, we need to take more risks, which is completely understandable in our position. We made a lot of mistakes in the first leg, especially in the defensive phase. We need to correct these tomorrow, and I believe we will be successful.”

After the European test, we return to league action on Sunday. The Eternal Derby against Maribor is scheduled for 20:15, and you can secure your ticket at a pre-sale price at shop.nkolimpija.si or in our official club store.
