The eternal derby in front of 9,000 spectators did not go according to plan for the Dragons. Despite a lead quickly secured by Kojić, the visitors came away with a draw and a victory that reduced the gap in the championship table.

Olimpija’s strategist Victor Sanchez after the match played in Stožice: “Every match has its moments. This time we started well, we took the lead, the team worked well. But football is a matter of emotions and the way in which we conceded the equalizer affected us. Until then, we had the match under control, the script was perfect. Then the match became equal, as all derbies have been so far. But it is true that the opponent has a more experienced team. They played the match better than us in the key moments.”

“In my opinion, there was a clear foul committed in the end for the penalty against Brest. Similarly, we lost a defender in the last derby when he received two yellow cards, but in the first he did nothing wrong. The referee’s decisions in derbies do not go our way. They have influenced the results of these four matches.”

“Of course we wanted to celebrate in front of our fans. When we conceded a goal, we wanted to continue in our style and win the game. I am satisfied with what the boys showed, but we conceded the goals from our mistakes. That is football. They were smarter, so they created more chances. This time we wasted a chance for the title and we are disappointed. Both for the fans and for the players, because they deserved it. But next weekend we have another chance.”
