The Dragons failed to turn the tables in the return European match in a packed Stožice. A missed penalty kick early in the match had consequences and Borac qualified for the round of 16 of the Conference League with a 1:0 aggregate score.
Victor Sanchez: “Of course we are disappointed that we were eliminated, but I can only thank the players, because they performed brilliantly in Europe. At the beginning of the season, probably very few people thought that this team would overcome all these obstacles. They succeeded. We wanted to go even further, but that was not possible. The opponent was more accurate in two games and that’s all. Now we have the Slovenian Cup and the championship ahead of us.”
“For the first time in history, we have advanced from the league stage and we should be proud of that. We played 14 games in Europe, of which we won 8. We drew three and lost only three times. We lost twice when we were one player short. We have gained valuable experience from which we will certainly learn a lot.”
”Regarding Ratnik, the captain felt pain in his thigh muscle during the warm-up, so he could not continue. We had to take action and change the starting lineup. We will wait for additional tests and soon see what this means for the continuation of the season.”
