Before the decisive European match of the conference league knockout rounds, NK Olimpija strategist Victor Sanchez appeared before the media, but due to suspension (three yellow cards), he will not be able to sit on the Dragons’ bench for the first time this season. Despite his absence, he believes in the success of his charges and a new green-white historic success.
Sanchez said ahead of Thursday’s match against FK Borac in a packed Stožice: “We want to dominate, this is our style, this is our quality. We have already proven that we can do it. In front of the home fans, the atmosphere will definitely be different, special. The fans play an important role in this, they give you important confidence. Our boys deserve such a backdrop.”
“The most important thing is the players and they know exactly what the plan is. That doesn’t worry me at all. I trust the players, I know they learned something even in the first match, where the guests had a minimal advantage. Football is a game of mistakes that affect the result. Whoever makes the least, wins. But I certainly don’t expect an opponent to defend the entire match.”
“We know that this is a historic opportunity for Olimpija. These are matches that we, the players and coaches, enjoy. We want to do important things, and above all, win.
