The youth team of the green-whites has been strengthened by the talented Jan Jurgec!
Born in 2007, the footballer is most comfortable in the position of central defender or defensive midfielder. The Dragons’ new force is distinguished by excellent technical knowledge; Jurgec is very strong with his right foot and calm under pressure from opponents.
He moves to Olimpija from the Italian giant Roma, where he transferred in 2023 from NK Maribor. In Italy, he won the U-17 national championship title in the 2023/24 season. He is also a regular member of all Slovenian youth national teams from U-15 to U-19. A few days ago, he played a key role in the youth national team’s victory in a friendly match against Scotland.
The head coach of NK Olimpija’s youth team, Jasmin Jerič, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Jan to our team – a player with valuable experience from Slovenian youth national teams and the renowned club AS Roma, where he gained football maturity, work habits, and understanding of the game at the highest level. His versatility and tactical adaptability, which allow him to play in multiple positions, are a great added value, and we are confident that with his quality and experience, he will significantly contribute to the team’s development and find a stable environment in Ljubljana for further football and personal progress.”
Jan, welcome!
