The first week of preparation under the new coach has been completed for the NK Olimpija players. The Dragons begin the second set of strenuous preparations for the 2025/26 season with today’s match against FK Vardar.

Head coach of the green and whites Jorge Simao: “I am happy because I have found a good organization in this club. We have a really strong connection between all departments, there are professional people everywhere. In Austria I also met the players for the first time. Watching the footage is one thing, feeling them on the pitch is another. I am happy because I think we are making appropriate progress day by day. Of course, now is not the time for such analyses, as we are in the preparation period, but I feel that everything is going in the right direction.”

“The main concern is to present our ideas about the game to the players. It is a dangerous process, so I always think about the priorities at a given moment. Because sometimes I like to talk too much, I think the right way is to go step by step. I like this expression and I use it often, step by step. We are not looking for physical fitness, because that comes with a tactical approach. I would say that my main concerns are related to tactical issues. How do we behave on the field? With these issues also comes the physical part, which is connected to the whole.”

“For me, and I will tell the players, it’s good to win, even if it’s a friendly match. And it’s good to start the journey together with a win. Then, of course, we can ask ourselves how to win? By implementing the things we’ve practiced and trained so far. I expect to see the key points of the work so far at the opening test in Radenci.”
