The Dragons’ new reinforcement in midfield is Luis Perea Hernandez! The tall Spanish midfielder, who most recently played in the Polish Ekstraklasa, has signed a one-year contract with NK Olimpija Ljubljana with an option to extend.
The 28-year-old from Madrid began his football journey at Rayo Vallecano, before moving to Atletico Madrid’s academy as a youth player, where he progressed all the way to the senior team. This was followed by a transfer to Osasuna, where he got a taste of playing in La Liga, before continuing his career at Leganes, where he made over 100 appearances in La Liga 2. He later played for Greek side OFI Creta, and after returning to Spain, he wore the Leganes shirt again in the 2023/24 season.
Before arriving in Ljubljana, he spent the entire previous season representing Polish top-flight side Arka Gdynia, for whom he played 20 matches as a defensive midfielder: “I’m very happy to have become part of Olimpija. Playing for a club with such a rich tradition is not only a great pleasure for me, but also a great honour. Olimpija has a clear goal and I will do everything to achieve it together with the team. Together with the fans, we want to go from victory to victory and secure a return to European competitions. That is our goal and I am ready,” said the 191-centimetre-tall Luis Perea, who will wear the number 6 shirt for the Dragons.
