Jasmin Kurtić is a Dragon!

In anticipation of the first eternal derby of the new season, NK Olimpija Ljubljana has a new force in midfield! Jasmin Kurtić has signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional season at Stožice, and will wear number 14 in green and white!

The experienced midfielder made his biggest mark in Italy, where he amassed nearly 300 appearances in the elite Serie A. The Bela Krajina native wore the jerseys of Palermo, Sassuolo, Atalanta, Torino, Parma, Fiorentina, and SPAL for a total of ten years. Before coming to Ljubljana, he also played in Greece (PAOK) and Romania (Univ. Craiova), and most recently for Sudtirol in Serie B. In addition to his exceptional club career, Kurtić can also boast 97 appearances for the Slovenian national team, placing him third on the all-time list. He was also a member of the golden generation that qualified for Euro 2024, where he played in the opening match against Denmark.

Kurtić will watch the eternal derby from the stands, but then he will help the Dragons achieve their goals on the pitch with his quality and experience. Upon signing the contract with the current national champions, he said: “I’m very happy, as I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this. I’m looking forward to the new challenge. After a long time, I’m returning to my home country at the club level, and I want to prove my quality on the field, not with words. I’m also looking forward to meeting new teammates and the coach, and I believe we will be successful this season.”
