Recently, NK Olimpija Ljubljana received an official notification from the competent UEFA authorities regarding a penalty for inappropriate behavior by Olimpija fans during the Conference League play-off matches against Borac Banja Luka, totaling EUR 183,125.00 and ordering us to partially close the stadium for the next European match.
Since 2022, the UEFI club has had to pay more than half a million euros in fines for similar offenses in the stands. These sanctions were imposed due to repeated riots, violent acts and racism by individuals. NK Olimpija Ljubljana strongly distances itself from these fans. Violence and racist statements simply do not belong in football stadiums. This must be put to an end.
The club’s management decided at an extraordinary meeting to file criminal charges and a lawsuit for damages against individuals. There are only a few who have brought great shame and damage to both the club and the city. They will be exposed with the help of security footage and ticket personalization, and law enforcement agencies will then decide on penalties.
As we enter the end of this wonderful season, we would like to sincerely thank our loyal fans for the exceptional support we have received both in our home town of Stožice and throughout the Old Continent. Unfortunately, a small number of fans have caused the club a lot of inconvenience. We are particularly saddened that such a punishment, thanks to recklessness, has befallen us at a time when the club is experiencing exponential growth, and at the same time there are serious ambitions for investments in infrastructure and playing staff.
The players, coaching staff and all employees of NK Olimpija Ljubljana always feel strong support from the stands, we only ask that it be shown in a sporting spirit and solely for the benefit of the club. This year we are attacking the double crown, so we will really need the loud support from the stands in the next two months.
One life, one love!
President of NK Olimpija Ljubljana
