The Dragons opened the new season with a home defeat against Bravo. The opening league match at Stožice also brought the first official appearances of several newcomers in the green-and-white shirt, and after the match head coach Mišo Brečko and forward Marko Brest summed up their thoughts.
Mišo Brečko: “The impression certainly wasn’t the best. Some things that had already been showing up in the friendlies were repeated this time as well. Although we had the initiative throughout the entire second half, apart from a few situations we weren’t dangerous enough and we weren’t rewarded for our chances. The impression really wasn’t good. The desire was there in both halves. We got into certain situations, but we didn’t take them. We showed too little quality, even in the most basic things, and we’ll have to fix that.”
Marko Brest: “We made too many mistakes to deserve a win. Despite the defeat, we can also point out a few positive things. We created some good chances, but we also lacked a bit of luck. We have to eliminate these mistakes and go to Murska Sobota for a win. Maybe we should have played more riskily, but it’s easy to talk about that now. We have some new players who have quickly adapted to the way we work, but everyone needs their time—some more, some less. I hope it will be better soon.”
The Dragons are away in Murska Sobota in the next round. The Matchday 2 fixture in the PrvaLiga Telemach is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, at 6:00 PM.
