The Dragons opened their away match in Kidričevo with aggressive and attacking play, which bore fruit as early as the 4th minute when Durdov beat the home goalkeeper. Shortly after, Alex Blanco doubled the lead with a spectacular goal, and Brest put the icing on the cake in the 23rd minute. With a goal and an assist, Marko Brest was one of Olimpija’s key players, and after the match he said: “We wanted to enter the match with maximum focus and attacking intent. This paid off with the quick goal. In the second half we eased off the gas a bit and tried to calm the game down. In the end it paid off, as the three points are coming back to Ljubljana with us.”
“We tried to continue the good form from the second half of the previous match, which worked out well for us. But despite that, we must be aware that another tough test awaits us in just a few days. Today, however, we can be very satisfied with the outcome.”
Olimpija now heads to Andorra, where they will try to secure advancement in the UECL qualifications. The next home match is scheduled for Sunday, August 3rd, at 8:15 PM, against Celje. Pre-sale tickets are already available at shop.nkolimpija.si.
