  • Senzen Praised the Team after the Match

On Thursday evening, Olimpija played the first match of the 3rd round of qualifications for the UEFA Conference League against Albanian Egnatia. Although spectators in Stožice didn’t see any goals, the Dragons showed a good performance with attacking football and high pressure on the visitors’ defense. Marko Brest, who hit the woodwork, and Alex Matthias Tamm, who missed a penalty kick, came closest to scoring in the second half.

Interim coach Ivan Senzen praised the performance on the field and in the stands after the match: “” The fans gave their comment on our game. The support from the stands was loud and they stood by us because we showed a lot of fighting spirit and attacking football. We were very good, we had many opportunities, we were close to scoring, and we allowed the opponent few chances. The team’s reaction after all the events was excellent. The energy was visible, the team didn’t forget to play real attacking football.“”

“” I told the boys in the locker room that they should be proud, even though the score is 0-0. We were well prepared for the opponent, the players accepted the demands we gave them. We didn’t overwhelm them with too much information. Despite this, the boys tactically stood well on the field and created opportunities. We were convinced that Tamm would score the penalty. It happens, heads up – he will score many more goals.“”

The Dragons now face two away games. On Sunday, they’re heading to nearby Domžale, and on Wednesday the team travels to Albania, where the return match against Egnatia awaits them on Thursday. The next home game is on Sunday, August 17, when FC Koper comes to Ljubljana. Tickets are available at pre-sale prices at shop.nkolimpija.si and in our store in the center of Ljubljana.
