The Dragons hosted the sixth-placed team in the national championship in rainy Stožice and came away with a well-deserved victory! Olimpija took the lead in the first half thanks to Antonio Marino. Mura then equalised with the only shot on target, and the home team’s pressure paid off in the final moments of the match, when Alex Matthias Tamm became the hero of the match.
Coach Victor Sanchez summed it up nicely with the words: “Before the match, we learned about Maribor’s result, which was additional motivation for us. We also had a difficult match ahead of us. Mura adjusted their formation for us and positioned themselves deep back. In addition, we were faced with difficult weather conditions and heavy legs after all the work done this calendar year.”
“Nevertheless, we had the game under control and were dangerous from the stoppages, which we should have used better and scored another goal and thus calmed the game down. This punished us with the goal conceded, but the team showed real character again and secured the victory. I am very happy for the players, who deserved this result!”
The last test before the international break awaits the green and white team on Saturday at 5:30 PM. They will face Radomljani in the nearby Domžale Sports Park.
