Olimpija secured another three points in the 4th round of the Prva liga Telemach with a victory against Domžale. Despite numerous opportunities for the Dragons, the first half ended without goals. Ivan Durdov came closest to scoring with an excellent shot from the edge of the penalty area that hit the woodwork. The second half saw more action from the strikers. In the 51st minute, Dino Kojić scored an excellent header from Jošt Urbančič’s cross, but the hosts immediately equalized through Haris Vučkić’s counterattack. Marin put the Dragons in the lead, and Diogo Pinto sealed the deal with a confidently executed penalty in the 95th minute.

After the match, Ahmet Muhamedbegović summarized his thoughts: “It was a difficult start, but we played significantly better in the second half. If we look at how we appeared at the beginning of the season, the progress is evident. Today, we also had many opportunities to score even more goals. Additionally, we didn’t allow the opponent many chances, and I think this is the path Olimpija must continue on.”

“The early goal in the second half helped us a lot because it woke us up a bit. Our legs were already a bit heavy, and you could tell that the opponent had a free week, while we played our last match just three days ago.”

“We’ll face similar heat in Albania, but we need to continue where we left off today. We’ve looked good in the last two matches, and if we correct minor mistakes, we’ll certainly be successful against Egnatia.”

Olimpija now heads to Albania for Thursday’s return match against Egnatia. You can secure tickets at pre-sale prices for the next home game against FC Koper, which will be on Sunday at 20:15. Tickets are available at shop.nkolimpija.si or in our new store.
