U19: Five games, five wins

Dejan Dončić’s boys are flying in the EON NEXTGEN League. In the opening five matches of the national championship, the Dragons’ U19s have made it five wins from five. They have beaten NK Rudar Velenje, NK Fužinar, NK Jadran Dekani, NK Triglav Kranj and, most recently, NK Celje.

In Monday’s 2–0 home win over the Counts, Svit Hočevar and Bor Ceferin did the damage in the first half. The U19s have now scored 20 goals and conceded just three, keeping a clean sheet in three matches.

Olimpija were represented against Celje by Jeran, Štepic, Henjak, Artur, Sinanović, Ceferin, Jurgec, Goga, Brecelj, Lungu and Hočevar. Jovanov, Kapić, Zilić, Ljubenović and Karapetrović also got minutes.

After the Matchday 5 game in the 1. SML, head coach Dončić said: “In the latest match against Celje, all the players once again showed character, quality and the right competitive mindset. We continue to follow the goals we have set and remain focused on our style of play. We want to be decisive and aggressive both in attack and in defence. We take each match as it comes. Our focus is always solely on the next opponent, for whom we prepare systematically and to the maximum. Step by step, we want to keep improving and achieve the goals we have set.”

Next up, the Green-Whites travel to Koper. The match is scheduled for September 7 at 5:00 PM.
