In Saturday’s friendly match between Hungary and Slovenia (0:0), the Dragons’ left-back Jošt Urbančič made his national team debut. In Budapest, he stepped onto the pitch at the end of the match, thus becoming the 29th Green-Whites player to debut for the national team as a member of NK Olimpija Ljubljana.
“First and foremost, I feel immense pride. I’m happy that I debuted for my country. At the same time, I want to win every match, so the feelings after the defeat are understandably a bit mixed. I think the great desire of all of us was evident, which is definitely positive. After a good first half, we had a weaker second half, but we raised our game level again in the final minutes,” said Urbančič.
At the same time, three former Dragons captains – Andraž Šporar, Timi Max Elšnik, and Marcel Ratnik – started the match for Slovenia, while the team’s current captain, Matevž Vidovšek, was also on the sidelines.
The Slovenian national team faces its second match of the March international break on Tuesday at 6 PM against Montenegro.
