The Green-Whites will open the new Prva liga Telemach season with a home match against Bravo. Saturday’s clash at Stožice will kick off at 20:15, and ahead of the start of the campaign captain Matevž Vidovšek shared his thoughts.
“We know Olimpija has to be champions. Pre-season is over and already in the first match we want to show that we mean business. We also know that for a long time we haven’t got the result we wanted against Bravo, so we want to change that right at the start of the new season. When I started playing in goal for Olimpija, we weren’t champions either, but I predicted the double, which we then went on to win. Predictions are for the media and the fans, but in the end you have to show on the pitch who the favourite is. Both we and everyone else will have to prove who deserves the title.”
“The matches will show how much we’ve progressed compared to last season. Since we have a new coaching staff, we have a clear shared idea that we follow. The dressing room is united and that’s exactly what has to drive us forward. New year, new season. We’re starting from zero. The fact is, though, that in certain moments we’ll have to be much more prudent than we were last year.”
“Doffo’s return is a big thing for the whole club. We know each other well, the team knows him too, and the fans really like him. He’ll still need a few training sessions to get back into proper match rhythm, but his return is welcome for all of us.”
