The Dragons defeated the home team Primorje 0-2 in windy conditions at the Ajdovščina City Stadium, successfully concluding the 28th round of the Telemach First League. The first goal was scored in the 34th minute by Jorge Silva after an exceptionally executed free kick. The victory was confirmed in the 52nd minute by Marko Brest, who took advantage of a good breakthrough from Raul on the right side.
First goal scorer Jorge Silva said after the match: “No game in this league is easy. This one wasn’t either, as we played against a quality team in challenging conditions due to the strong bora wind.”
“I think we should have taken better advantage of the chances we had in the first half and scored another goal. In the locker room at half-time, we knew that we would have a tougher task in the second half, as we were playing against the wind. Nevertheless, the team showed real character and scored again.”
Coach Victor Sanchez also saw the match in a similar way: “We controlled the game from the first to the last minute, but we could have scored more goals. However, we can be very satisfied, as we played against a strong team that recently defeated Maribor in this stadium.”
Olimpija’s next league test awaits them on Wednesday, when they will host Koper in Stožice at 5:00 PM.
