In the 12th round of the Prva liga Telemach, Olimpija played away at the Z’Dežele stadium and took home a point after an exciting goalless draw. The Dragons came closest to taking the lead in the 60th minute when Ivan Durdov found the net, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
Olimpija’s coach Federico Bessone attributed the positive performance to good match preparation: ”We had enough time to prepare. The players understood our plan well and executed it excellently. The match was very even, but we also created some opportunities to win. That’s why I’m extremely satisfied with our performance.”
On his team’s tactical discipline, he added: ”In modern football at this level, every player must be focused and in sync with their teammates. We showed this tactical discipline today against Celje, who are a determined team, but we didn’t allow them to create chances. We were compact and brave, and with that, we were close to victory until the very end.”
