The Dragons’ second summer signing is winger Alexandre Nascimento da Silva – Xande! The 25-year-old Brazilian moves to Ljubljana from Bulgaria, where he successfully represented Spartak Varna for the last year and a half. He signed a two-year deal with the Dragons, with an option to extend.
“My feelings upon arriving at Olimpija are excellent. I am happy to have become a part of this club. I had a successful season in Bulgaria, which opened the door for this transfer. I know that this is a very successful club in Slovenia, so I am very proud to be here. I was impressed by the organization and professionalism of everyone at the club, as well as the wonderful stadium. I can promise the fans that I will always give my all on the pitch and proudly wear this jersey. I want to help the team achieve new trophies and, together with my teammates, achieve as much as possible in Europe. I believe a successful season awaits us, with many reasons to celebrate,” said Xande, who hails from Maceió, the capital of the Brazilian state of Alagoas, upon signing the contract.
He began his professional career in his native Brazil with Agremiação Sportiva Arapiraquense, then went on to play for Treze, Portuguesa, and Itabuna. This was followed by his first move abroad, when he joined Spartak Varna. In the past season, he scored five goals and provided six assists in 37 matches for the Bulgarian top-flight club.
The fast-footed Brazilian, who will join the Dragons’ training sessions this afternoon, will wear jersey number 77 in the capital.
Welcome, Xande!
