First team
Tuesday, 24. 10. 2023With Klaksvik on Thursday
With yesterday afternoon’s training, Olimpija players started the week with a double schedule. The highlight of the end of October will surely be the European tour to the Faroe Islands, where the Green and Whites will leave tomorrow morning.
Saturday’s away game in Domžale went the way new coach Zoran Zeljković wanted, as he finished his debut on the Olimpija bench with a win and a clean sheet. The Dragons are now just two points behind second-placed Koper, while leading Celje maintains a six-point difference. So the timing of European match with Klaksvik is perfect.
Monday brought the Dragons an afternoon training session in Stožice, while on Tuesday Zoran Zeljković will take his players to the artificial turf pitch at the Ilirija Sports Park to familiarise the team with the specific playing surface before they leave for their 3,000-kilometre away trip.
The Olimpija expedition will start its journey on Wednesday morning. The charter flight from Ljubljana will be followed by accommodation at the Djurhuus Hotel in the centre of Torshavn, after which the official training session will take place at the Torsvollur Stadium, which is only used for international matches by Klaksvik.
The Dragons’ third match in Group A will be broadcast on Thursday at 18:45, live on Kanal A and Arena Sport. The return to Slovenia will take place immediately after the game. The Dragons will have a new training session on Saturday afternoon, followed by a match with Aluminij at Stožice on Sunday at 17:30. Tickets are available here.
